Lyme Disease Awareness

For two years I had a gut feeling that something was wrong. I just couldn’t pinpoint what it was. After overhearing a conversation about Lyme Disease, I realized my symptoms all pointed to Lyme Disease, but I was 600 days too late. The bacteria had penetrated my Central Nervous System. I’d have to cope with long-haul systems for the rest of my life.

Here are some tips to help you prevent long-haul lyme and additional tips I have found helped me in my recovery.

Top Tips to Prevent and Stop Long-Haul Lyme

  • Lyme Disease is not just in the Northeast. It has spread across the county and Canada. Do not let a doctor tell you otherwise. The best way to prevent Lyme Disease is to BE TICK AWARE.
  • If you find a tick on you, pull the tick off and put the tick in a bag, then put the bag in the freezer for potential testing later. IT IS EASIER TO TEST A TICK THAN A HUMAN.
  • Ticks carry more than just Lyme Disease. They carry co-infections that can also be problematic to the body. Other tickborne illnesses are also on the rise. Get tested for co-infections if you can.
  • There are no vaccines for Lyme Disease, but vaccines are available for dogs. Definitely recommend it for your 4-legged friends.
  • If you have an unexplained rash on your body, especially if it is circular or bullseye, go see your doctor and ask if they are familiar with Lyme Disease. If you or your doctor believe it is Lyme Disease, get a test and request antibiotics. If you saved the tick, test the tick. Lyme Disease tests on humans are not very accurate.
  • If you receive antibiotics within the first 60-days of infection, you will likely be okay and not have long-term effects. After 60-days the bacteria enters your central nervous system making it more difficult to kill. Antibiotics still help to suppress the bacteria but you will always deal with incurable long-term symptoms that can best be maintained with diet and mobility.
  • Eastern Medicine is your friend when it comes to Lyme Disease. Western Medicine has failed to help us with this disease.

Top Tips to Heal & Overcome Long-Haul Lyme

  • Take cannabinoids – particularly CBD, CBG, CBC and microdoses of THC. These will help balance your Central Nervous System. The imbalances are causing most of the negative side effects.
  • Eat fresh food as much as possible. Avoid frozen foods and fast food.
  • Eat hemp hearts and flax seeds. Your body will not make conditional amino acids when it is in flight or fight so you MUST consume these from foods. Hemp hearts and flax seeds have all you need. Sprinkle these on everything you eat.
  • Eat detoxifying foods, especially broccoli, asparagus, brussel sprouts, garlic and onions. Investigate other safe, detoxifying methods.
  • Play in the dirt, switch to magnesium based deodorant (instead of baking soda) and spray magnesium on your feet. People are often deficient in magnesium (hemp hearts are also high in magnesium).
  • Have your doctor test you for other nutrient deficiencies – particularly Vitamin D – and supplement where needed.
  • Lyme hates heat. Use this to your advantage and partake in sauna, steam, hot tub, hot showers etc.
  • Exercise and stay active. Movement is the best way to reduce arthritic stress. You don’t need to run a marathon, but simple stretching and walks will go a long way.
  • If you get Lyme Disease, don’t let it drag you down. It’s very hard to overcome the feeling, but if you work to love it, then your body will rebound more quickly because it is not wasting energy hating it. If you’re not wasting that energy, your body will have more energy to re-direct towards healing. This is not backed by double-blind placebo scientific research, but it took me 10 years and a lot of trial and error to realize this. That switch in my brain has helped a lot more than you’d think. It will help you overcome it as well.
